The Commerce Housing Authority is accepting applications to fill the vacancy on the Board.  The board member will serve a term of 5 years and attend monthly meetings on the 3rd Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.  An application must be completed and returned to City Hall no later than October 16, 2020.  The final recommendation will be made to the Commerce City Council for approval.  Any questions please call Sandra Haggard, City Clerk 706-336-3288

Commerce School Traffic Change

 

Lakeview Drive, starting at Waterworks Road and continuing through its intersection with Minish Drive

will be a two-way street 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; having no section of the road as a one-way street.

During the school hours Lakeview Drive WILL NOT be a One Way Street

 

Start now preparing your drive to school,  traffic will be congested as the students return to class.

 

Add extra time to your drive to school the first few weeks as the bus traffic,

student traffic and parent traffic uses the new route.

 

Be careful and Drive patient with the new change.

A community meeting will be on March 5 for citizens input and questions on the POSSIBLE closing of access for Belmont Subdivision from Nunn Street (see map attached). Everyone is invited to attend the meeting at 6:00 on March the 5 at Commerce Civic Center. If anyone would like to contact the city manager on the meeting please call 706-335-3164.

Letters and maps were mailed last week to residents in the area. If anyone would like a copy of the map, please stop by city hall.

2019 General Election Information

The City of Commerce will hold a General Election on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. The offices to be filled for election are Mayor,

Councilman Ward III, Councilman Ward IV and Councilman Ward V. The qualifying fee for Mayor will be $126.00 and the qualifying fee for the council seats will be $81.00

The School Board Districts to be filled are School Board District II, School Board District III, School Board District IV, and School Board District V. The qualifying fee for the school board district will be $72.00.

The last day a person may register and be eligible to vote in the General Election will be October 7, 2019.

Qualifying for the offices listed above will be held at City Hall located at 27 Sycamore Street, beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 19, 2019 and will end at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2019.

The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.
