Mission
To enhance the continued growth and development of Commerce through the preservation and promotion of its rich cultural and economic heritage by coordinating the process of downtown development. The Downtown Development Authority and Main Street Program seek to promote the future through the preservation of the past.
Vision
Commerce's downtown is an irreplaceable historic and economic resource that provides a sense of place for all of its residents and it must continue to be recognized as such. Citizens of Commerce will possess an understanding and appreciation for our shared heritage that provides a bridge from the city's past to its future. The continued revitalization and preservation of the downtown area will enhance the lives of Commerce's residents.

Structure
The Commerce Downtown Development Authority is managed by a seven member Board of Directors. The Board members are appointed by the Mayor & Council for staggered terms of four years.
DDA Board Members Must Be:

Taxpayers residing in the city for which the DDA is created, or
-
Taxpayers residing within the county, who shall be an owner or operator of a business located within the downtown development area
-
An elected official may fill one of the positions
