Assistant City Manager -- Steve A. McKown, CPA, MPA
Hello! My name is Steve A. McKown, and I am the Assistant City Manager for the City of Commerce. Among other duties, I direct the city's finances. I am a Certified Public Accountant and have Master's Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from Valdosta State University. I served the City of Bainbridge, Georgia as Director of General Administration and Finance for seven years prior to relocating to Commerce.
Although I am originally from Cairo, Georgia, I am glad to be a part of Commerce -- my new home town. I am married with four children -- Steven, Nicki, Sara, & Walter. My wife, Amy, is a saleperson with Vision Marketing/Rainsoft. I certainly wish you and your family the very best, and I look forward meeting you in person real soon.
Billing Coordinator -- Lynn Anthony
My name is Lynn Anthony. I am a native of Commerce . I attended Commerce City Schools and graduated with honors in 1980. I married Chuck Anthony from Jefferson in 1981. We have 2 children ages 21 & 16. My daughter graduated from CHS in 2002, and my son is a Junior and he plays both football and baseball for Commerce. We are all members of Nicholson Baptist Church.
I am the utility billing coordinator for the City. I have been employed since December 2000. Prior to working with the city I worked in Athens with Mens Apparel Group in customer service for 8 years. Before going to work in Athens, I worked as a Pharmacy Tech for a local pharmacist who is now retired.
My hobbies include reading, attending football games and spending time with my
Family and friends.

My name is Maria Pena, and I have lived in the City of Commerce since 2002. However, I was born and reared in Massachusetts. My family is originally from the Dominican Republic. During my early teen years, I was active in ballet and gymnastics. I graduated from high school in 1989. After school, I went on vacation to the Dominican Republic and met my husband Jose Pena during my vacation. We started dating and got married in 1990, and we have two wonderful children. Our daughter, Jannylee Pena is 14 years old. She is a freshman at Commerce High School. Our son, Elbrian Pena is 4 years old and is in Pre-K at Commerce Elementary School.
I am the procurement coordinator for the City of Commerce. I have been with the City since January 2005. I was previously employed with Quick Response Marketing as the accounts payable and overseas translator for over four years. Before working with Quick Response Marketing, I worked as the personal translator for the President of Sunrise Jeans and Eighth Avenue, an all American Textile Company in the Dominican Republic.
My hobbies are to listen to music, write Spanish poetry, read, baseball games, and enjoy my family to the fullest.

Jones of Commerce and Alicia P. Harris of Athens, and 4 wonderful grandchildren.
I enjoy public speaking and social events with people.
My hobbies are decoration and being creative.
I enjoy my job because I get to meet and communicate with people who come in to
City Hall.
Cashier Michael Alewine
Hi! I am Michael Alewine, a native of Madison County.
In 1990, I moved from Atlanta, Georgia where I had lived for ten years, to San Francisco, California. While in California, I earned my bachelor's degree from Golden Gate University and worked at The State Bar of California as a Court Services Analyst Technician.
In late 2005, I returned to Georgia and in August 2007, I joined the City of Commerce staff.
My hobbies include gardening--I am a member of the Madison County Master Gardener's Association, where I am currently serving as Secretary. Other hobbies include taking continuing education classes; web design and publishing; reading; and cooking. I look forward to meeting you soon!
