The City of Commerce does not operate a solid waste collection system nor does it operate a sanitary landfill. All residential and small commercial (roll-a-way containers) customers are collected by a private solid waste collection company that has an exclusive contract with the City of Commerce. Although the City does not provide this service directly, it does provide the monthly billing. All questions related to this service may be directed to the Commerce City Hall staff at 706.335.3164.
The City's Public Works Department is responsible for curb side collection of yard waste. This service is provided to residential customers only and is usually collected on a once per week basis with no additional charge.
Waste Management located in Homer, Georgia is the company authorized to collect residential and small commercial solid waste within the City of Commerce. Mr. Ed Gibson is the company's manager and he may be reached at 706.677.4868.
All large commercial and industrial solid waste collection is provided by a variety of different private haulers. Each customer is required to contract directly with a private hauler to make their own arrangements for this service.
