Through the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia's (MEAG) statewide transmission and power generation system, Commerce can reliably serve any size electrical load while maintaining a lower cost of service than most of its competitors. Commerce's electrical distribution system is presently served from an integrated network of four substations. Electric customers in excess of 900 KW demand may choose to have Commerce supply power even when locating in unincorporated areas of Jackson County.Commerce currently serves over 2700 customers and looks forward to serving you.
Electrical service can be requested at the Commerce City Hall, 27 Sycamore Street, 706.335.3164
Current 2006-2007 Electric Projects
Commerce power has converted the power system over to 7,200 primary volts. We have changed out over 80% of the power poles on the system.
Commerce power and Georgia power are in the process of removing the substation on Highway 98 on the north end of town.
MEAG installed a new breaker and power transformer for the city, and we now have three feeders coming out of station four.
We are in the process of pulling a new feeder wire out of the new breaker to tie with one of the other breakers and feeding the new Super Ingles load.
